ELIGIBILITY
This event is intended to award recognition for interior design of exceptional quality. The project submitted should focus on the interior environment within an architectural shell. All projects completed by architects, interior designers or industrial designers that focus on the design of an interior environment are eligible. The design firm and majority of the project team needs to be from the State of Oregon (Vancouver, Washington is also acceptable). Project location is not a criterion for eligibility. Winning projects in any category from previous IIDA Awards competitions are not eligible. Projects may be entered in multiple categories, but must be submitted independently.
Projects must have been completed after September 1st, 2019 and prior to September 1st, 2024.
JUDGING CRITERIA
The jury will use the written and visual material in this packet for their analysis. Submissions will be judged for suitability to the project challenge, originality of the design solution, and the successful integration of planning, interior forms, finishes, and furnishings. It is imperative that the information submitted describes the projects as accurately as possible. From the qualifying entries, awards will be presented in the categories listed below:
- Best in Category
- Honorable Mention
- Impact Award
- Against All Odds
- Overall Jurors’ Choice
- Overall People’s Choice
Jurors are given the option to not award in a category if they determine the work submitted does not exemplify the criteria being evaluated upon. If this occurs, the IIDA Oregon Chapter will not display the work or announce projects submitted in that category, nor will the jury be asked to comment on their decision. Rather a general announcement will be made that an award was not given with brief reasoning, and the awards ceremony will proceed.
AWARD CATEGORIES
Projects will be submitted in one of the categories listed below. Jurors will be provided the option to separate out submissions within each category by size/function, based on the number of submissions received with commonalities. For example, Corporate - Public Space vs. Corporate - Office.
